Dr Charlie Boucher graduated from Onderstepoort, University of Pretoria in 2002. Shortly after qualifying he went abroad to the United Kingdom where he spent 10 years working as a veterinary surgeon in a first opinion practice. During this time, he obtained his general practitioner certificate in small animal surgery and was the practice director of as veterinary clinic in South-West London. In 2012 he returned to South Africa, to pursue a small animal surgical residency at Onderstepoort and graduated with his masters degree in small animal surgery in 2017. During his time at Onderstepoort, he was employed as a senior lecturer and in 2018 was elected head if the small animal surgery department. He enjoys all aspects of small animal surgery, but has a particular interest in orthopaedics and neurosurgery.

Dr Frans van Heerden graduated from Onderstepoort, University of Pretoria in 2012. After qualifying he worked as a general veterinarian in Kimberley and Nelspruit, during which time he completed an honours degree in small animal surgery. He returned to Onderstepoort in 2016, subsequently completed a residency in small animal surgery and fulfilled the requirements for a master’s degree in small animal surgery in 2019. His interests in the field of surgery are always developing, and he currently enjoys minimally invasive and orthopaedic surgery.
